Alumni and Friends,
After many meetings and much contemplation, we have made the decision not to field a competitive corps this year. The corps has struggled this past winter recruiting and retaining members and there is no indication we will reach the minimum membership established by DCA.
This has been a difficult decision. The Thunderbirds Drum & Bugle Corps was founded in Meadville, PA in 1956 and has a long and decorated history. We are a part of the culture of Northwestern Pennsylvania. Our talented members, staff, director, and support team have dedicated themselves to this very special organization.
In spite of this news, the Erie Thunderbirds will continue. We have a strong Board of Directors, instruments and equipment, the ability to raise funds, and thousands of loyal fans. Plans are already being laid for a non-competitive summer activity, the details of which will be announced soon.
So stay tuned, because the Erie Thunderbirds will return.
